Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati University, Ajmer, established under the laws governing State Universities in Rajasthan, is committed to creating an inclusive academic and administrative environment that promotes equality, diversity, and mutual respect. The University ensures that no discrimination is practiced on the basis of colour, religion, belief, caste, creed, culture, or disability, and functions in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution of India and policies of the Government of India.

In order to provide a safe, respectful, and supportive living and working environment for students, faculty members, and staff, the University has constituted a Special Cell for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (SC/ST Cell). The Cell ensures proper implementation of reservation policies, protection of rights, and prompt redressal of grievances of employees and students belonging to SC, ST, and Persons with Disabilities (PWD) categories.

Functions of SC/ST Cell

  • To circulate decisions, guidelines, and orders issued by the Government of India, University Grants Commission, and other competent authorities regarding Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, and to collect annual course-wise admission data of SC/ST candidates in prescribed formats for necessary follow-up action.
  • To gather and review information related to appointments, promotions, and training of SC/ST candidates in teaching and non-teaching positions, ensuring compliance with reservation policies and submitting reports within stipulated timelines.
  • To compile reports on Government policies related to education, employment, and welfare of SC/ST communities for policy improvement and institutional planning.
  • To analyze collected data and prepare consolidated reports for submission to the Ministry of Education, University Grants Commission, and other relevant authorities.
  • To address representations and grievances submitted by SC/ST students and employees concerning admission, recruitment, promotion, and related academic or administrative matters.
  • To monitor remedial coaching and support schemes approved by the University for the academic advancement of SC/ST students.
  • To function as a Grievance Redressal Mechanism for SC/ST students and staff, providing necessary assistance in resolving academic, social, and administrative issues.
  • To maintain records and registers related to employment and representation of SC/ST candidates across various University posts.
  • To undertake any additional measures assigned by the University or Government authorities aimed at promoting higher education and social upliftment of SC/ST communities facing economic, social, and educational disadvantages.
