Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati University, Ajmer (MDSU)
Research Policy
Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati University, Ajmer (MDSU), with its vision of "Sustainable Development", strives to achieve excellence in academic, research, innovation, and extension programmes, and to contribute towards the national goal of "Atmanirbhar Bharat." Research in the frontier areas of science, technology, and social sciences is an integral part of all academic activities carried out at MDSU. More specifically, the University focuses on the following objectives:
- To offer an outstanding multidisciplinary education with a deep commitment to inculcating an innovation- and research-oriented culture among undergraduate and postgraduate students, research scholars, and faculty members.
- To support research and innovation by providing necessary infrastructure, including academic mentoring, technological tools, stipends to doctoral scholars, and linkages with organizations across disciplines and all spheres of society.
- To develop and strengthen policies on research ethics and accountability through transparency and social responsibility.
The Research and Development (R&D) / Dean Research Cell facilitates support for various research activities, including doctoral research programmes, sponsored research and consultancy projects, and the organization of seminars and conferences across different departments of MDSU. The implicit objective of this cell is also to promote multidisciplinary applied research in emerging areas of societal and industrial relevance through inter-departmental research initiatives and inter-institutional collaborations at national and international levels.
The R&D Cell formulates and updates research policies from time to time in accordance with UGC Regulations, and ensures that researchers adhere to the research guidelines, ordinances, and regulations of the University as well as those of funding agencies. In addition to obtaining necessary approvals, the University complies with guidelines related to externally funded project implementation, consultancy services and projects, appointment of project staff, and fixation of minimum remuneration for project personnel.
The Research Cell has established a robust mechanism for developing and strengthening the research ecosystem through MoUs and collaborations with industry, government agencies, and community-based organizations. It facilitates greater access to interdisciplinary and cutting-edge research through effective mobilization of resources and funding. Over the years, the University has installed state-of-the-art facilities with high-end equipment as part of its Central Instrumentation Facility (CIF). The University also provides seed grants to encourage faculty members to initiate and collaborate on research activities.
MDSU is committed to academic excellence and integrity in teaching and research through its Academic Integrity and Misconduct Policy. A standard plagiarism check is mandatory for Ph.D. theses and Master's project reports as per UGC norms. The University has also adopted an IPR Policy and constituted a Consultancy-IPR-Patent-Plagiarism Committee to foster innovation and facilitate the translation of research outcomes into products, processes, and services for commercial and societal benefit. The overarching aim is to contribute to the transformation of the University and society by delivering research-led education, promoting innovation and collaboration, and fostering human values.
