The scenario of employment and entrepreneurship opportunities and skill set needed for making livelihood have made it essential to rethink the system of education for our young ones. The futurologists predict that due to the rapid progress in artificial intelligence and robotics, the students obtaining degrees in higher education in a few years from now, will need to change at least 4 jobs in their lifetime and the new profession may not be linked in any way to the earlier ones. Besides, technological interventions are making humanity loners while its progress needs to be collective. Thus the learner's expectations today are markedly different. Considering the above scenario, the New Education Policy of 2020 recommending pathbreaking radical changes in the way of delivery and duration of programs of learning (earlier called courses), categorization of types of courses (earlier called Papers), weightage to the students' choice and ease of learning by allowing entries and exits at multiple points, creditization of all kinds of learning, outcome based teaching, credit transferability from one stream (i.e. recognition of prior learning) and one institute to other, civilizational connect, skill development, participation of stakeholders in learning management, introduction of continuous assessment for achieving the outcomes and lifelong learning. Objectives, that were not given any importance over subject knowledge and memory-based learning system of earlier education system.
