Report on Activities of the Prithviraj Chauhan Historical and Cultural Research Centre

The Prithviraj Chauhan Historical and Cultural Research Centre at Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati University, Ajmer has been actively engaged in promoting historical awareness, cultural values, and academic research related to Indian history, particularly the legacy of Emperor Prithviraj Chauhan. Under the guidance of the Director, Prof. Shivdayal Singh, the centre has organized several academic, cultural, and commemorative activities over the years.
From the academic session 2018-19 onwards, the centre has conducted various national seminars, lectures, competitions, and commemorative events. In 2018, a two-day national seminar on "Gurjar Community in History: Re-evaluation" was organized in collaboration with Akhil Bharatiya Sanskriti Samnvay Sansthan. Scholars from several states including Jammu & Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Rajasthan participated in this event.
The centre regularly celebrates the birth anniversary of Emperor Prithviraj Chauhan, recognizing him as a symbol of bravery, national unity, and cultural pride. On these occasions, seminars, lectures, and competitions are organized to discuss his life, achievements, and contribution to Indian history and culture. Distinguished scholars, administrators, and public representatives participate as chief guests and speakers.
In 2019, a seminar and quiz competition were held at the Prithviraj Chauhan Memorial in Taragarh, Ajmer. A book titled "Historical Perspectives on Gurjars", edited by Prof. Shivdayal Singh, was also released at the university. In 2020, the 854th birth anniversary of Prithviraj Chauhan was celebrated with a seminar attended by scholars and public representatives.
During 2022-23, a seminar titled "Prithviraj Chauhan: The Great Warrior and Protector of Indian Culture" was organized, where scholars highlighted his role in safeguarding Indian cultural traditions and inspiring national pride. The Vice-Chancellor and other eminent personalities addressed the gathering.
In 2023-24 and 2024-25, the centre continued its tradition by organizing seminars, discussions, and competitions on the 857th and 858th birth anniversaries of Prithviraj Chauhan at the Prithviraj Chauhan Memorial, Taragarh, Ajmer. These events were organized in collaboration with institutions such as Ajmer Development Authority, Nagar Nigam, Tourism Department, and the Indian History Compilation Committee.
For the 2025-26 session, the centre organized a seminar and tribute program on the 859th birth anniversary of Prithviraj Chauhan in May 2025. Various organizations and departments collaborated in the event, which aimed to inspire youth with the ideals of courage, patriotism, and cultural responsibility. In September 2025, an interactive lecture titled "Indian Youth as Carriers of Cultural Values" was also organized for university students.
Through these activities, the Prithviraj Chauhan Historical and Cultural Research Centre continues to promote historical research, encourage academic dialogue, and preserve the cultural legacy of India.
