Profile

The Department established in 1993 offers M. Sc. Environmental Science course with specialization in Environmental Impact Assessment and Disaster Management, which makes it unique in the country. The course curriculum is extensive and extremely relevant to the present day context. Hands-on-training is provided in laboratory exercises to promote the learning of appropriate environmental technologies. The students are sensitized for the preservation and management of Earth and its resources in a sustainable manner.

M.Phil Environmental Management (SFS)
Eligibility: Admission to the M.Phil. Programme will be made on the basis of Entrance Test the <b>Admission Eligibility Test</b> (AET). A candidate for admission to the courses of study for the degree of M.Phil. must have obtained a Masters degree in the concerned subject with at least 55% marks at the postgraduate examination or second division at the post graduate examination with at least second division at the examination of the MDS University or of any other University/Institution.<br /> A Separate admission notice will appear in the National/Regional newspaper for AET-M.Phil. and admission to M.Phil. Programme in various subjects offered by the university. <br /> In order to fill up reservation quota, relaxation in the eligibility will be given to SC/ST/OBC/SBC/PH etc. up to the pass percentage of the qualifying examination subject to the condition that such person shall not be considered for general category even if he/she secure marks in the merit in AET-M.Phil. at the level of general category. <br /> AET-M.Phil. will be of two papers of 100 marks each. The duration of each paper shall be 1 hr (60 Minutes) without any gap. Paper I shall be of Research Aptitude and Paper II shall be on subject selected by the applicant. If a candidate does not appear in paper I he/she shall not be allowed to appear in paper II.

Eligibility: 50% marks in aggregate in B.Sc. with Medical or Non Medical group or Bachelor's degree in Enviromental Science/ Geology/Earth Science/ Microbiology/Biotecnology/Biochemistry/Agriculture/ Horticulture/Forestry/Wildlife/Life Science <br /><br /> <b>About M.Sc. Environmental Science</b><br /> M.Sc. Environmental Science is a program of learning under modular Choice Based Credit System that allows a student exist points after successful completion of each semester. If the student is successful till the exit point s/he desires to leave at, s/he will be awarded PG Certification/Diploma/Advanced Diploma/Degree. Such student may return back within two years of exit to seek lateral entry and complete the program. The minimum requirements for such provisions are as below.<br /><br/> Semester 1 (6 months, 20 credit) for PG Certification in Environmental Science<br /> Semester 2 (1 Year, 40 credit) for PG Diploma in Environmental Science<br /> Semester 3 (1.5 years, 60 credit) for Advance PG Certification in Environmental Science<br /> Semester 4 (2 years, 80 credit) for M.Sc. Environmental Science.
