The advent of Human Resource Development Centre:

The Human Resource Development Centre as it is presently known has its roots of inception under the name and style of Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC) from 1995 to 1999. During the said period eleven (11) Refresher Courses were organized. Subsequently, it was named as Academic Staff College.The advent of the twentieth century saw the Human Resource Development Centre, the then Academic Staff College standing on its feet in 2000 with a feast of Refresher Courses in Chemistry, History, Botany, Home Science, Political Science, Economics & Orientation Programmes to its credit. In addition, other courses as and when directed by the UGC viz. Special Summer School, Special Winter School, Academic Administrators Workshop and Interactive Programme are organized from time to time.

Adolescence of Human Resource Development Centre :

The trend continued in the foregoing years i.e. 2001 onwards always putting its strongholds in the positive direction i.e. in quality and productivity of the courses in the years to follow. In all, a good number of lecturers of Government Colleges have been benefited and are being benefitted out of the Refresher Courses and Orientation Programmes organized by the UGC – HRDC MDS University erstwhile UGC- ASC MDSU Ajmer.

Maturing of Human Resource Development Centre :

ORGANIZATION OF REFRESHER COURSES / ORIENTATION PROGRAMMES:

Another phase concepted the Orientation and Refresher courses which are conducted through Participatory Management which include- auditing the programme report, chairing of sessions, organizing visits and chalking down academic & presentation sessions. While the Refresher courses aimed at various recent changes/ advances been made in the subject matter, courses in environmental studies, courses on educational management have been significant being multi-disciplinary.

In recent past in 2017-18. Refresher Course in Renewable Energy Studies, Computer Applications, Library Science, Globalization and Emerging Economic Trends and two Orientation Programmes were conducted. It was for the first time that Principals’ Meet was conducted under the auspices of HRDC and also a Research Scholars Workshop on Information Technology and Research Ethics in 2017-18. Earlier from 2012 to 2017, Refresher Courses were held namely in Chemistry Education and Applied Chemistry, Commerce, Entrepreneurship, Environmental Science, Life Science, Computer Applications, Earth Science, Education, Law and Human Rights. Orientation Programme and a couple of Short Term Courses were also organized during this period.

INNOVATIVE COURSES AT UGC - ASC, M. D. S. University, Ajmer:

The Refresher Course in Educational Management in session 2007-08 has been an innovative course, conducted for the first time by our ASC to cater to the needs of academicians turning administrators in the later part of their professional carrier. Comprehensive information was provided by relevant resource persons regarding administrative and financial matters, service rules, extra-curricular activities, dealing with unions and associations, sports activities etc. that form an essential part of the College administration.

In the session 2008-09, Special Summer School-2008 and Special Winter School 2008-09 were successfully organized from 21.8.08 to 8.9.08 and 8.2.09 to 28.2.09. In addition, a special Ph.D Interactive Programme entitled Workshop on Interactive Programme on Research 2009 is being organized from 12.3.09 to 31.3.09 in which the scholar participants would interact with the teacher resource persons on various aspects of research.

In addition, in 2017-18, besides two Orientation Programmes , Refresher Course in Renewable Energy Studies conducted from 9th August to 29th September,17 Computer Applications from 25th September to 12th October 2017, Library Science from 1st to 21st November, 2017 alongwith one Principals’ Meet on 2nd February 2018 and a Research

Scholars Workshop on Information Technology and Research Ethics from 23rd to 25th February,2018 have been significant and novel additions to the already conducted courses. In Library Science Course participants from around eighteen to twenty universities participated from different universities of the country and from different states.

In 2018-19, the session commenced with the Refresher Course in Research Methodology and Ethics from 24th May to 13th June 2018 followed by Refresher Course in Chemical and Physical Sciences from 13th September to 3rd October 2018, First time held Short Term Course in Guiding Research : Present Scenario from 22nd October to 27th October 2018 and concluded with the Refresher Course in Human Rights and Women Empowerment from 26th February to 18th March 2018 besides the two Orientation Programmes from 2nd to 29th January 2019 and 7th February to 6th March 2019 . It was an honor to have resource persons of the stature of Hon’ble Vice-Chancellors ( sitting and former ) in some courses besides Deans, Directors, Professors , Professor & Head of Departments of Universities of Rajasthan and other States. The participants were from various different universities of around thirteen states from all over the country including Rajasthan.

TEACHING METHODOLOGY:

One word will not suffice for teaching methodology which includes lecture cum discussions with the use of aids viz. LCD Projector, OHP, Marker Board, Chalkboard etc. and organizing field visits for infusing practical knowledge among the participants and holding syllabi discussion session and interactive sessions for developing communication skills and improving the course content to be taught.

EVALUATION OF PARTICIPANTS:

The evaluation and grading is done by assessment of participants through multiple choice objective tests, presentations, assignments, basic attitude, punctuality, interaction with peers and Resource persons, Group discussion and overall performance.

GUEST HOUSE:

We have a University Guest House with facility for Boarding & Lodging, Medical aid in emergency and basic essential amenities. The HRDC Guest House named on the name of Shri Rabindra Nath Tagore, inaugurated by the then Vice-Chairman of UGC, Prof.Ved Prakash, has been equipped with facilities for use by participants of the UGC-HRDC Courses from July 2017 and the participants enjoy their stay in the HRDC Guest House. In continuation to 2017-18, participants of Refresher Courses, Short Term Courses and Orientation Programme had a comfortable stay in HRDC Guest House in 2018-19 also .
