Department of Food Science and Nutrition

The Department established in 1994 has to its credit the Ajmer chapter of the Nutrition Society of India and has state-of-the-art laboratories. The students undergo intensive internship in Dietetics in reputed hospitals of India and are very well placed in NGO's, Food Industries as dietitians, teachers, health counselors and food inspectors.
  • Ph.D. - Foods & Nutrition

A candidate for admission to the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) must have obtained the Masters degree with at least 55 percent marks at the postgraduate examination of the University or an equivalent examination recognized by the University in the subject or any allied subject in which he/she wishes to pursue research. If the candidate secures less than 55 percent marks at the postgraduate examination but has secured second division at postgraduate as well as degree level, he/she will be eligible for admission to Ph.D. Programme.
The candidate seeking admission in Ph.D Programme are advised to go through the ordinance No. 124 relating to the degree of Ph.D. A seprate advertisement (Admission Notice) will appear in the state level newspapers for RET only on the availability of seats and admission to the Ph.D. Programme in various subjects offered by the University.

M.Phil Foods & Nutrition (SFS)

Admission to the M.Phil. Programme will be made on the basis of Entrance Test the Admission Eligibility Test (AET). A candidate for admission to the courses of study for the degree of M.Phil. must have obtained a Masters degree in the concerned subject with at least 55% marks at the postgraduate examination or second division at the post graduate examination with at least second division at the examination of the MDS University or of any other University/Institution.
A Separate admission notice will appear in the National/Regional newspaper for AET-M.Phil. and admission to M.Phil. Programme in various subjects offered by the university.
In order to fill up reservation quota, relaxation in the eligibility will be given to SC/ST/OBC/SBC/PH etc. up to the pass percentage of the qualifying examination subject to the condition that such person shall not be considered for general category even if he/she secure marks in the merit in AET-M.Phil. at the level of general category.
AET-M.Phil. will be of two papers of 100 marks each. The duration of each paper shall be 1 hr (60 Minutes) without any gap. Paper I shall be of Research Aptitude and Paper II shall be on subject selected by the applicant. If a candidate does not appear in paper I he/she shall not be allowed to appear in paper II.
M.Sc. Foods and Nutrition (4 Semester Scheme)

50% marks at Degree level in B.Sc. Home Science (Pass/Hons. in Foods and Nutrition) or B.Sc. in Foods and Nutrition or B.Sc. with Diploma in Dietetics.
Advance (Post PG) Diploma in Food & Health Security (ADFHS)

Master’s degree in any subject with 50% marks in aggregate. Graduate from any discipline.
B.Sc. Food Science in Nutrition (6 Semester Scheme)

10+2 in any Subjects with min.50% marks for General & 45% marks for Sc/ST/OBC/SBC.
